Painted in studio based on a plein air sketch completed in the field in early March, 2024. The Picaris Peaks are located just outside of Taos, New Mexico, on the route to Espanola. Late afternoon sun was striking both the snow-dusted mountains and hills in the foreground. A few flakes of snow were drifting down as I quickly captured the light before evening fell.
